All the frustration and work is paying off
After four attempts at this simple little painting I am happy with the results. Still may tweak the hair some, but generally it is finished.
Thank you for looking

I did soften the edge on our right side where her face meets her hair! Believe it or not, her eyes are truly that blue, they are huge and stunning when you first meet her.

Lovely color harmony, Patty. I think the eyes look naturalistic. You got that deep blue color just right without pushing it too far.

Thank you Alex, I appreciate your comment as I knew it would be difficult to balance the blue without it looking over the top.

The little man all dressed in gray on my left shoulder
Thank you Marvin. When I sit down to paint, I take deep breaths and look at my palette and tell myself, "everything I need to make beautiful fleshtones is right here before me, PAY ATTENTION". And then I move more deliberately than I did before your last workshop. Something in me clicked this time.
Jack says constantly, "what would that small man all dressed in gray wearing a baseball cap and glasses with a red string , sitting on your left shoulder say..." !! We laugh but now I have this image of you constantly sitting on my shouler with me...
Happy, happy, happy that we have nailed down your June 2012 workshop for Cleveland already. It will be great!!

Lovely painting, Patty. I agree with Alex, the color harmony is perfect. Keep posting everything you do.
Interesting. She looks kind of like - what I imagine - Kristen Scott Thomas looked like as a child...

"Marvin Gray", I love it! Thank you Josef and David for your generous remarks. When I saw this little girl last week her eyes physically grabbed me. I was so relieved that my representation of them was right on!
