Thank you all for your advice. I've printed a copy of your replies and now I think I've figured out my problem! I'm a commercial artist by profession and I've got my studio set up with lighting suitable for illustration for reproduction work. I'm going to have to split the area somehow. Now all I have to do is repaint my 'bat' plant so that it looks like it is sitting in shade in a rainforest and not in a dark cave. The joys of painting!
