Enzie, I had a lot of trouble getting good photos of the Finalist paintings. I'm glad that Janel posted Marvin's so that we can take a good look at it here.

Here is the one for which John Ennis won an Honors award (I grabbed it from his website):

Gee, I wish I could have seen these in person. I am very envious of all who were able to make it. Thanks for posting this, Linda.

I forgot to mention, if you go to the link I attached that takes you to Marvin's website you can click on the portrait for enlargements and close ups. It is worth a trip there to get a good look up close (as I know all of us artists like to do)

Amazing stuff.

David Leffel was in my bedroom, drawing a naked lady who was standing on my bed!
Same thing happened at my place.

Mr. Leffel -- if indeed it is he -- may have some explaining to do.

Meanwhile, the Taos geography and arts community has brought me back a number of times and your description of the possibilities has me staring off into the space outside this window . . .

Thursday Night Demo of Katy

I don't have any in-process shots of my demo, but perhaps I will get some eventually - I'll add them if possible.

This is Katy, oil on a New Traditions panel, 20 x 16. She did a wonderful job, and is as lovely on the inside as she is on the outside.

As it turned out, it was really quite fun to do this, and I so appreciated the PSA providing me the opportunity.

PS David, great story!

Hearty congratulations to all of you! How exciting for everyone, and wow Chris, getting to do demo - which looks great too!

Linda, great picture of you and Tom - I think you are both as pretty as I remember in person.

Chris's demo really was good. She had some very interesting things to say about light, shadow, and the use of complementary colors, which is one of my favorite topics. She spoke very clearly and captured everyone's interest. Not only that, she had prepared some informative handouts and she posted pictures of different stages of a sample demo on one of the walls so people could see the whole process. Judging from the turnout and the fact that hardly anyone left, I would say she really held people's interest. I went out for a while to see the watercolor demo, and when I came back, the room was overflowing with people eagerly watching. Plus, she captured an excellent likeness of her model!

Thanks Linda!

David, that was a funny story. I too can relate to those "dah" moments!

Chris did an incredible job with this demo. Not only was she fast and precise, she entertained the audience and somehow slipped in some education too! Plus she's adorable ... am I right?

That was really fun, I was happy to be there. Plus you put this familiar face on that beautiful painting! I just love it, thank you.

And Chris, please stop and take a breather once and a while, or get some bigger springs. xxoo Katy
