New Orleans
This is just to let some of my friends here know that I am ok. I won't be able to answer cause I am using a computer away from home. I still don't have any power.
We had some wind damage but no flooding where I live. My two children are safe in Baton Rouge. The rest of my family were not so lucky. No deaths, but every one in the immediate family, sisters, brothers, parents, neices, nephews have lost their homes and escaped with only the clothes they packed for a few days. The destruction is unbelievable, thousands of deaths which you are not seeing on tv, milliions displaced.
We need help desperately and the government is just now beginning to show up. Please pray for us. Don't know when i can return here.

I'm so glad to hear that you are OK and am sorry that your family members have lost homes.
The devastation is unbelievable, and that it's taken this long to get any sort of decent rescue effort going has left me flabbergasted.

I was hoping that none of the forum members had been affected by this disaster. Our prayers are with you, no doubt, but they need to be backed up by bottled water, medicine, rescue efforts, organization.... Our various governments here have offered help, but they too have been far too slow. This is turning into an international disgrace. I am so, so sorry.

Alicia,
We can only imagine how bad it must be, knowing it's beyond imagination. It is painful watching helplessly day after day and seeing how people are dying and the rescue efforts are either nonexistent, not organized, or too slow. I'm so sorry about what your family has had to endure.

My heart goes out to everyone in the affected areas. It is unimaginable what you and others have to deal with. I am very happy to hear that you have not lost loved ones. Let's hope that other forum members from that region are safe as well.
