Recommended Lenses for Canon D10?

So I am getting ready to get the Canon D10, 6.67MP camera.

The camera body is what you buy and you need to also buy lenses.

For my first lens, I am considering a Sigma 28-70MM 2.8 EX DF. You can see it here:

I intend to begin with still life and portrait setups in addition to some outdoor shooting.

Any suggestions on other lenses for this camera that might be good to have - or a recommendation for a lens that I should get instead of the Sigma 28-70?
