Nikon D70 and studio lighting for portraits.

This will be my last post about the D70 for a while
I just have one more question for those who use this camera. Can you adjust the degrees Kelvin on the camera to match lights or do you even need to. I'm looking for a straight forward, simple lighting solution. What is the best affordable lighting solution for this particular camera when setting up indoor lighting for portraits?
Thanks

Ps. What is the deal with degrees Kelvin? I know nothing about it.
