question Need some help

This is a painting I'm working on right now. My father died 2 years ago. To honor him, I'm trying to make his portrait. My question is how to paint glasses?

Also I have a little trouble doing the background. What I'm trying to accomplish is to make two flags blending into one. On the left you see the Dutch flag, and on the right the Turkish flag. My father is a symbol of two united countries living in peace together. But I don't want the background to compete with the portrait. That's why I tempered it with a little bit of brown. But I'm not quite happy about it. What do you think?
