The Guardian
Here is a painting of mine that is not new, but I am sharing it, because I am tickled that I sold it today to a friend and collector.
The painting represents two individuals I met on the Kentucky-Tennessee border some years back. In fact, this lady was not quite sure which state she resided in! Anyway she was the primary caregiver for her grandson, asleep on the floor. I could not resist taking a slide photo (actually, two; it's photo reference is recorded in stereo-3D)!

oil on birch panel
48" x 34"
1997
There is a frame too; I made and water-gilt myself; but for web purposes I think it is easier to view without that frame. A birch plywood panel is one of my favorite surfaces to paint on! The features are simplified as much to their essence as I could muster.
I would like to paint some more like this. Let me know how you like it. Obviously this was not a commission, but a personal work.
