Well I agree about the cutesy aspect but not the commercial. But then I think we have a different idea of commercial in europe than the USA.

I don't think cutesy is really popular here.

The one small child portrait I remember from the recent http://www.therp.co.uk/ exhibition had a very sullen look on his face.
