Hockney's Portraits




From the Ridiculous to the Sublime

Yesterday, I was in Los Angeles to do nothing but look at art. I first went to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Wilshire Boulevard. I wanted to see the 5 Klimt paintings that will be on display there only a few more days. The well known portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer, stolen by the Nazis and recently returned to Bloch-Bauer

David, I can't say anything against a painter who has given us a book like Secret Knowledge. For this sole reason he should be forgiven of all his sins.

I also like him because he has dachshunds and paints them, because he painted a portrait of Christopher Isherwood whom I worship as a writer.
For the rest I share your perplexity
