This is an extreme close up of her face, the values did not vary from light to dark very dramatically so I tried to neutralize and work with the chroma. (teacher Marvin helped me through this - thank you.)

I am posting her left hand as a close up too, because it presented its own amount of problems.

By the way I postioned her fingers, they were just ackward enough to make it extremely hard to get it right. Also, it was difficult to keep her hand from, the best of Gestalt, growing out of her jeans. It was also my intention to downplay this hand to give it the least amount of emphasis.

Thanks for looking.

Beth,

This is the best so far! The color harmony is marvelous, and very satisfying.

Congratulations,

Thinking!

You were thinking about each brush stroke and where the next one was going to go and the one after that brush stroke. It really shows this time Beth! Good going! May your days always be filled with painting!

Beautiful portrait, Beth! Is this your daughter? The colors are so clear and true and the brushstrokes are impressive. I also especially like your treatment of all the various textures of cloth.
