My favorite human

This is really a tough step for me, so please be gentle. I understand though that this will help me improve more than anything else that I have done. I will attempt to attach the painting and follow up with the photo I used.

Since joining the Forum and reading critique after critique, I have learned many things. A few of those things I realize could improve this painting. I have, however, decided not to repaint this, but to accept input on it, and on the next one I will post, in order to improve my future work.

This is the first time that I have seen the painting next to the resource photo. This, in itself, was enlightening.

One thing I have learned about this painting is, first and foremost, the resource photo I used was not adequate. Also, a better sense of light (or concentrating on value) would improve the overall painting. This I understand so much better now from reading the Forum and since attending Peggy

Well, I guess I'll try again, I thought I did it right.

I forgot to say that the painting is in oil, linen on oak panel, and the size is 20" x 24".
