Saper December Focused Study Workshop
Like the November workshop, four students attended the December class-we had a great time!
We worked via a combination of live sittings and photographic resources. In the following picture, you'll see Kay taking measurements from life. Our model Ashley, was posed in a cool light, wearing and surrounded by colors designed to maximize the sense of cool color.

And here you'll see Alice, now continuing with photo resources only, and all of us - showing progress on Friday.
We'll add final images once everyone is ready.

Chris Saper's Dec. focused workshop
I attended Chris Saper's Dec. focused workshop and I'd like to comment and thank her. Chris spent many hours helping each individual student with all their specific concerns about the painting process itself and how to build a career as a portrait artist. She was gracious, generous, and thoughtful, as always, and I publicly wanted to thank her for everything!! It was a great learning experience as well as great fun!!!

Chris I saw the mention of your workshop in the PSOA newsletter and noticed it didn't say where the location would be. Either I missed it or it's in Scottsdale.
Let us know if it's on the road!
These look great and what a beautiful model you found.

Focused and fun
Thank you, Chris, for a wonderful week and a tremendous amount of information presented in an organized manner. As a professional portrait artist, my desire is to take my business to the next level, and you have certainly given me the boost I needed. I really appreciated the small group, because we could each get attention as needed while painting, and our questions were answered promptly. Critiques on artwork are always helpful, but I found it very valuable to get business advice on a personal level. I think it is far more effective to study with a mentor like you than to go to a seminar or read a book. I also discovered that my camera equipment needs an upgrade, and you gave me specific directions on what to buy and how to use it. To see the difference between my printout and yours was a revelation.
I had so much fun! You are a delightful person and a gracious hostess. Thank you for "underpromising and overdelivering."

Thank you all!
Yes, Ashley is a stunning model, and as beautiful as she is on the outside, she is just as sweet on the inside.
Beth, these were so much fun, I will probably schedule one or two next fall. One in Phoenix and perhaps one in Tucson .
I am still looking at something this April, although my own schedule is rather chaotic, so I'll have to see.
Best wishes,

I heard it was great!
Hi Chris
My friend Diane took your workshop and is giving you rave reviews. She was impressed by your warmth and professionalism. Diane, as you know, is a very talented and bright woman with lots of questions. She had many of those questions answered during your workshop and feels she was given real direction. I'm very impressed with the binder you put together. I was especially pleased to receive a signed copy of your book from her. Just wanted you to know kind words are being said about you here in the great white north.

Dear Vianna,
Thanks for such a kind note! I loved meeting Diane, she is an excellent painter, very bright and VERY funny. And a lovely person to boot. When she asked if I knew you, I said " Yes!" - it's a small world, and through the Forum I feel that I know you and so many others.
Hope to met you in person one of these days.
Best wishes,
