Mike,
I am no critic so please bear with me. This is just a thought.
The first thing I see when looking at your photo (excellent lighting) is the reflection off of the lense on top of his head. With that toned down I see a great portrait.
The photo is beautiful and you are a woderful photograher. Something that a lot of us struggle with. Please share your expertise (i.e. lighting, film, camera).

Another excellent photo! I like the color of the halftones. Are you sure you want to do watercolors with this one? This would be a good subject for a rich oil painting.
