Charcoal + sanguine, again...
This time I used charcoal, and 2 reds ( a warm, and some very little touches of cold red )
13" X 20", on Fabriano paper.
I'm not sure I can define the direction that I'm taking...

This is stunning, Marina. I still can't get over how much color you get out of this, and in chalk, too! Beautiful drawing, interesting drapery.
Any special meaning to it?

Just had to log in to say beautiful, beautiful, lovely, perfect, top class. It's terrifically well executed as well as having a really nice contemporary feel. Wow, and just a super composition, Marina!
Is it from a photo, or photos, or photo and your imagination?

Marina what a most beautiful and sensitive composition and colour range. Delicate yet powerful.
Would you like to expand on how your method for those of us still learning?
What a gorgeous model. Well Done!

This is great work....I can't quite comprehend how such an amazing temperature range can be wrung from just these colors, but obviously you can, Marina. The additional red has obviously upped the ante quite a bit.
Whether you can articulate what's going on here or not, it's stunning.

Alex,
I kept the drapery volontarily simple. I could have work it much more, going into smaller and smaller shapes, but I wanted to keep the focal point on the face. Thank you.
Claudemir,
thanks!
Enzie,
that's something I thought recenttly : If you look at the past centuries, there are so many babies represented in paintings : Jesus as a baby, angels, cherubs, cupids, allegories of something, young princes and princesses... When I looked at contemporary paintings, I was wondering why there is so few babies ( and when you find some they usually look like poor photographies)
That's a bit strange when you think about the important place of babies in our society...
Grethe,
Ha ha! That's an excellent idea! I'll try to keep it in mind.
Mischa,
thanks a lot!
