Dear Forum Members:

This painting (18 x 24) just took first prize in a group show here in Greenwich (ASOG Spring Show, Gertrude White Gallery, YWCA Putnam Ave. through May 30). I am delighted not only to have been selected in this mixed show of 53 artists' works, but to see such strong interest in portraiture. About the image: In reducing size, some edges became jagged (hat and shoulder). They would not go away with enhancement attempts. Other than that, I believe this is representational of the original, and I can offer no further excuses!!!

Special note: This past weekend I was one of the 600 lucky attendees at the NY Contemporary Portrait Festival, and learned how much I have to learn! Karin Wells was wonderful to meet and represented this forum and Stroke of Genius so impressively. Her fabulous portfolio was inspirational!!!

Thank you for any comments on this portrait which was done from two, three-hour model sessions in the "Premier Coup" tradition.

Very nice work. I really think it's great considering that you had such a short amount of time. I like the head and shoulders best. The brushwork looks brave and honest. I do see some fading? on the clothes (from turps?)

Anyway the head has neat color and has form. Tt looks a bit like a Henri or Luks only more well drawn...I really think it's good.

Hi Jeanine, congrats on your prize. I especially like your skin tones and the interesting background.
