This must have quite the impact in real life. It would be powerful at any size... Gorgeous ambiguity in her expression, too. Janet

Kim, this is fabulous! Whatever powerful forces have been stirring in your work, when you apply them to portraiture--LOOK OUT, HERE SHE COMES! I love how everything works together visually: the subtle pattern of the wall next to the dress and necklace, The "pointed" statement of her hair next to the incredible sensitivity of her face and expression. Each thing in the painting simultaneously contrasts and harmonizes in different ways (color, texture, value, emotional impact) and on different levels. I'd love to see this in person.

Kim - this is so strong, even small on the computer screen! I love the color harmony-- the way the teals of her eyes, shirt and jewelry work with the reds and oranges of her hair and skin. Such a true adolescent expression, defiant and vulnerable at the same time.

Can only imagine the impact it must have in person. (Care to post a shot with someone standing next to it for a sense of scale? )

I love everything about this portrait. Nice lips, beautiful job on the hair, and you certainly captured a wonderful expression in her eyes.

Kim,
This is great. You look at the painting and then the girl's eyes never let you go. Powerful!
Thanks for posting the oversize portrait. It just convinced me to do a painting I was thinking about
