Marge Unnewehr Schott

As they say the 8th time is a charm.

After months of working on this posthumous portrait of Margaret Unnewehr Schott, I am finally happy with the circa 1956 image of this lady who achieved so much in her life time, be it great or controversial.

I was happy when the Academy Principal proclaimed that the large hall named after her will now have a soul to accompany the name.

This is oil on linen, 30 x 40". I hope these digital images appear OK on your monitor.

Hi Beth,

I 've been watching you work on this elsewhere, the finished painting is seamless, beautifully done.

Congratulations!

Carolyn.

Beautiful job Beth, one of your very best. I love the period flavor of the piece as well as the design.

Thank you all very much.

Sharon I was thinking of you yesterday at a presentation with Judith Carducci. She was using Great American pastels and for some reason I remembered you mentioning them and I had never seen them before. Then she said they were made in my hometown - I about died!

Sorry for the digression.

If you had noticed an earlier composition, I really appreciate you even noticing it, since it was difficult. I only had a head and shoulder small class picture of her so everything else was worked through. I thought it was important to have her Saint Bernard's and little baseball. But I need to give a feeling of an estate and a hint of the school colors, thus it became a nightmare to bring together, I hope I have served it well.

Thanks again, Beth

Bonfim I am afraid the hands might have a bit of glare, but here are the close ups:

NICE finish Beth, it came out even better than I thought it would. I remember you posting the references and how you had put them together, and remember thinking "holy #*^!" But your patience paid off and paid off great, congrats!!!

Second try......

Darn it. I wrote this big old kiss-your-big-ole'-butt post (you know I loves ya, Beth!) and it went pfffffft! and disappeared.

I am now - last couple months or so- back to painting, and painting up a storm. (Totally lost my creative bent when I had my lumpectomy- thought it might never come back), but it has.

First things first:
Beth, girlfriend, I am so proud of you. You're doing great, but I always knew you had it in you. This is a wonderful portrait, dogs and all!!
Way to go!

Speaking of which, I have had pet commissions keeping me busy (attaching the detail of the most recent- "Jake") and did a portrait commission of a little girl, Nicole (attached- I hope). Other than that, I'm painting figurative and all kinds of stuff! I'll try to post a couple.
So happy to see your progress, Beth. But I miss hearing from you!

Hugs,
Linda
