Lori
I must say it is rather intimidating to post a simple pastel here after all of these wonderful paintings have been posted recently, my main hope is that the photography is OK.
This is Lori, who was started ages ago. It was so nice to return to my easel after such a long hiatus involving a move.
Lori is a lovely 13 year old. The size is 16 x 20 on Wallis.

Beth, this is beautiful, with great color harmony and confident strokes - you should be very proud of this one! I love that eye on the right side.
And by the way, I also love the lightning bolt in your signature, which I have just noticed for the first time.

Elizabeth,
This is a lively spontaneous portrait. I like your color development, and assured strokes of the drawing, which I think evocatively capture this girl at thirteen. It seems pastels are a great medium choice for this subject. Actually, woudnt you know it, I am just finishing up a thirteen year old girl as well, (in oil, yet mine seems comparatively quiet and somber).

Thanks guys, it is always encouraging to hear from the people you admire most. I just wish the "real" vibrancy of my work would show through.
Winking at you Linda!

Wonderful
How very beautiful.....a wonderfully engaging portrait. If I ever decide to try pastels, I am going to go back and study yours.

I remember seeing this in progress, it's come together very nicely. I really dig the dress with the polka dots that fall perfectly into space.

I love her expression, pose and the subtle value changes across her face. This is certainly my favorite piece of yours.

Wonderful pastel, Beth. You seem to have captured this young girl's coy, demure manner, as she transitions into teenhood.
And now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go look up the word "teenhood"...
