Iraqi Artist

I just thought I'd share this with you all.

We have a local fella who just got back from duty in Iraq and he brought this painting back. He bought it from an artist in Baghdad for $200. Apparently this artist (Ayad) was one of Sadam's artists and is now struggling to make a living, but selling to soldiers. He works fast and puts out many paintings.

I saw this painting at the local frame shop I use and got the owners permission to photogrpah it - sorry the photo is not very clear. It is a very good painting in my opinion.

What impressed me is that this artist is working in primitive conditions. I am sure he has a hard time getting deliveries from Dick Blick. The next time I complain about my studio space I will think of him.
