I have finally gotten slides of my artwork so that I can enter some competitions.

The material around the slide is sort of a slippery/glossy plastic. I am wondering if it is usually acceptable to cut labels to the exact size of that white part to make it easier to write my information on?

Most competitions specify that there be no tape - I am assuming they mean taping the actual film area around the photo.

I never knew what that no tape thing meant. They just don't want the slides to get hung up, so the same goes for the labels I expect. Most competitions ask for 27 things that you're suppose to put on a slide... it's almost funny.

They mean nothing should be stuck on the slide mount's outside, because it can gum up the projector. Use a Sharpie or metallic pen to write the info on the mount itself.

You need to put Mylar silver tape on the film itself (so yes, you need to get it out of the mount, or at least remove half the mount if it's the snap variety), cropping the image so that nothing that you would not see inside the framed piece is seen on the slide. That means easel, fingers, toes, etc.

Follow the instructions exactly. The last thing in the world any of us wants is to have good work rejected for faulty presentation.

Now if I can just figure out how to write all that information in tiny little letters that can still be read!
