Nacote Creek - Portrait of Peter Caporilli
This was a commission for which I have to thank my website; they did a search for NJ portrait artist and up I came. The gentleman is the CEO of Tidewater Workshop, an outfit that makes white cedar lawn furniture and benches. His staff commissioned this portrait for him for his fortieth birthday. The creek is his backyard and the boat was built by his grandfather. It's oils on canvas, 24" x 20".

Thanks for commenting, Mary! I've been wondering why no one has said anything about either of my new works. I'm also thinking that I should have posted them in the professionals section since this is my only career at present and I've been doing it for about seven years.
The green in Peter's painting isn't quite as virulent as it comes across, here, but the portrait definitely captures his personality. Thanks again for looking and posting.

Hi Leslie,
I missed this painting when your first posted it, and I'm glad to see it come up again. A good, strong outdoor portrait - I like portraits in boats and I wish I had more opportunity to paint them. Well done.

Thanks, Linda and Mike. Peter is a fascinating guy who's on a lot of boards and really gives back to the community. He has a home on Nacote Creek and loves that environment.
At first he wanted me to paint him on his deck outside, in a tuxedo. That's also very much in tune with his personality but I like this treatment much better.
I appreciate your comment especially, Linda, because your outdoor portraits are so lovely. The bench the subject is seated on in one of my favorites of yours is very much like the sort of furniture that Peter manufactures, too.
Living where I do, boats are part of the background. One reason why I like it here!
