Mai, that's a triumph! It was very good before, but now it all works together perfectly. The extra light on the cheekbone, the definition and darkening of the tie, and the adjustment on the sleeve make his face, with its cheerful, intent expression, stand out as the focal point. Great job!

Excellent Job Mai!

Congratulations on your work! You really wrapped this up nicely, making just the right changes from when you last posted the painting. I especially love the left hand - it provides just the right balance at the bottom of the painting, and value-wise, it's just right (not too subtle, not too pronounced). Lastly, his expression complements the pose - friendly yet formal. Excellent work!

Linda

Thanks Leslie, Linda and Mike for your support! I do wish my brushstrokes can be better so that I can 'show them off' in this painting, but I am not quite there yet.

Mike, you are too kind. I do try hard to learn to paint better. I am attending Daniel Greene's workshop this summer. I hope to do better work after his class

Sincerely,

Mai

Hi Mai

I'm very impressed with your progress, and how hard you've been working. This is quite nice also, are you attending any classes or workshops? I know that you will be taking some workshops, but am interested in what you've been doing recently.

Jean

Thanks Jean!

Thank you for your encouraging support. I am glad that my paintings have improved. No, I have never been to any art classes or workshops of any kind, but I will be attending Daniel Greene's workshop this summer for two weeks. I am not really sure of the reasons for my progress. But, lately I spent a lot of time on the actual planning of my work. I also tend to ask myself the reason why I want to have something to be painted, and then check my painting as I go along, making sure that I am on the right route to deliver my objectives to the viewers. And most importantly lots of practice. I don't know if I am making myself clear here.

Everyone on this Forum has given me a lot of support and encouragement, and that means a lot to me!

Sincerely,

Mai
