First Official Portrait Commission
This is a first formal commission of mine. It is of a previous president of the university where I work. I only had old, black and white, photographs to work from. No color references, except verbal reports. So my challenge was to breath some liveliness into the skin tones. In sculpting the form I was also challenged by the fact that the best photographic reference that I had, had a light source that was directly in front and above the subject, so there were very few shadows on either side of the face. I would really appreciate any comments.
The portrait is in oil and measures 20x16.
I have posted the portrait in the "Oil Critiques" section.
