Come join me in Seattle for my next portrait workshop!
Portraits in Oils/Learning to work from Photographs
Dates: May 18th, 19th, 25th and 26th
Description: In this four day class artists will learn to pose and light a subject properly, take excellent reference photographs, and to paint portraits in oils based on the photographic reference. Artists will also learn about some of the limitations of photographs and how to compensate for that in their paintings. The instructor, Michele Rushworth, will do demonstrations and give individual attention to each student.
Level: Intermediate
Instructor bio: Michele Rushworth is known for her commissioned portraits in oils of families and officials across the country, and has painted the official portraits of nine state governors, eight senior federal government officials including the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force for the Pentagon, and the U.S. Secretary of Commerce. American Artist Magazine referred to Michele Rushworth as “one of the most successful portrait painters in the country today.”
“My goal as an artist is to honor the people I paint, to depict them on their very best day. I believe there is no higher art form than the difficult challenge of capturing the human spirit, of conveying something of the inner life and depth of a person’s character on canvas.” —Michele Rushworth
