Judy Simons

Hello to everyone and thank you for making this forum such a wonderful resource and meeting place.

I'm a child of the '60's and have wandered down many avenues of life, but always painted if I could. I attended art college, BFA '69, and again (MFA '05) a few years ago. I cannot tell you how different those two experiences were. I sort of levitated through the first degree and the second almost killed me.

I paint (and etc.) every day now and, although I paint just about anything, portraiture is my first choice. I prefer working from life and ask most people who visit me to sit while we talk. I paint mostly faces because of vision and time issues, but I usually take a photograph for reference in case I want to continue afterwards.

Here are two recent examples of fairly quick (for me!) - 2-5 hour studies:

Those "studies" are so packed with good information that I would not want you to touch or try to "improve" either. The style and paint application are well suited to these subjects. These easily compete with the demonstration studies done at the best conferences and workshops.

Yours will be a refreshing stylistic addition to the forum.

If there are any lingering consequences from your having "levitated" through the 60s, and if you need counsel, a Forum Attorney will be appointed for you.

It's a full-service venue.

Thank you for the kind words. I've checked out member's websites and I feel honored to be here.

Steven, I live relatively sedately now, but it's good to know about the one-stop shop.

Welcome to the forum from all the way here.

Your paint application looks very lively and energetic...well thought out but at the same time very spontaneous and vibrant.
Hope to see more.
