F.F. Kevin Prior

I finished this portrait of Kevin Prior for his family in December 2003. He was only 28. It was a very emotional painting for me to do. I have been emailing his mother Marian for several months and gotten to know her and Kevin thru her messages. Kevin was a wonderful person and a true hero. I wish there is more that I could do. All I can offer is this portrait and hope it can help them in some way.

This is a very nice portrait and it's something that his family will cherish for many years. You cared a great deal for this project and his family, and it shows.

I believe the main purpose of portraiture is to celebrate the life and the spirit of the subject. You have created a beautiful work of art here. You should feel proud to have done it so splendidly.

Ardith,

How sad, how really sad.

You have given her something to treasure.

Sincerely,

Emotional but worth it...

It was very hard to do the piece but I feel that the family truly appreciates it. I had to work from 1 color and 5 b/w photos and in each photo he looked so different. So that also made it difficult. But Kevin's mother said that she couldn't explain it but my painting looked more like Kevin than any photograph that she had of him. She said that I captured his spirit. That really gave me chills....
