Robert

Hello everyone, it has been quite a while since I have made any posts here at SOG. I recently completed this portrait of my brother Bob and wanted to share the finished painting. Hopefully I have improved, if not back to the drawing board. This is oil on canvas, the size is about 52 X 34 inches.

Hello Henry

This is a very tender portrait of your brother. There's a real warmth in the face and the details are put down with real conviction and feeling because, I think, you know just what it is about his face that makes him your brother Robert. Very nice.

Thank-you for showing us.

Dear Henry,

I particularly enjoy seeing the softness in your color and value transitions in the close-up.

It has indeed been a long time, and it is nice to see you!

I think a brother could not wish for better, Henry. You've done a really fine job with the modeling and value transitions, and all the technical considerations. But I think the best thing about this portrait is the way you've captured his warmth. I feel as though I know him, or would like to know him.
