Handling of disagreements

As many of you know, there have been times over the years when two or more members disagree with each other - often about methods. And, disagreement is fine. It's the toxic ways of handling disagreement to which I refer, including veiled and not-so-veiled barbs and jabs.

If it has not been made clear before, then I'd like to make it clear now. If you disagree with a person's method, DO NOT take on challenging the person or method with whom you disagree. There are many methods and some are very passionate about their own. Simply start a new topic and state your own methods without going head-to-head with the other person and without putting down the other person. This ultimately leads to nothing but strife for moderators and other members. Some very fine artists with much to offer have stopped posting here because they are not comfortable with such conflict.

If you are being challenged in an unseemly way, report it to a moderator rather than trying to handle it yourself with the individual.

I have found that some of the best information that I have received was from the outcome of a constructive argument.
