The first week of Nudes section
As was predictable at the opening of this section, there has been some upset and conflict of opinion about what should be allowed in this section. This is one reason why we never had a Nudes section. We had concern that the time demands on a modertor could be voluminous. Since it has been open, there have been many behind the scenes emails required of the moderator and some people who are now angry. Before the Nudes section, everything was quiet and running normally.
I can only say to the many fine artists who are involved in the Forum whose membership and contributions we value, that the moderator's job can be tough one. They volunteer their time with no reward except the possibility that they will have helped another further along in their career. Their purpose is altrustic and they devote their time despite busy careers of their own. So, each member's first thought should be "I am a guest here, so how can I be supportive of this moderator and the goals and purposes of the Forum." There will always be some differences in point of view, but in appreciation for the moderator's position, please keep behind the scenes emails to a minimum and as short as possible.
This is a reminder that the Stroke of Genius Forum was never intended to be for everyone or for all types of art. It was intended to be a reflection of the main site and in fact, was originally intended to be only for those who are listed on the main site. However, it was decided to open it to others since (1) there are some fine artists out there who are not main site members for one reason or another and who would like to share their knowledge or who simply desire communication with other artists and (2) there are some very talented artists who with a bit of help could well be on their way to a lifelong career. But, please always remember, it is a leg of the main portrait site, which is traditional portraiture and is meant to reflect that.
As stated on the home page, this section is to be for classically oriented, finished pieces only. Now that a week has passed and issues have arisen that the Board must discuss and decide on, we are temporarily closing the section until the Board has time to discuss certain issues.
