Studies after Shanks

With little time to paint, I decided to brush up on drawing and interpreting values from colour. If you have the May issue of the Artist's Magazine, you should (if I rendered these properly) recognize the portraits by Nelson Shanks. Considering that this was only practice, I used cheap 8.5" x 11", 70 lb, acid free paper, and graphite. I tried to copy these 'straight' without any measuring devices, allowing my eyes to learn from sight comparison, but will not attempt a 'freehand' on a serious piece.

Thanks for looking.
David

Correct me if I'm wrong, David, as I do not have issues of the magazine with me, but are these from May or from the Special Portrait Issue in April? I ask only because some members may wish to sleuth out the originals for a reference regarding color values.
