School in Florida looking for portrait artist for their career day
Here is the email from the coordinator. Feel free to contact her directly since I know nothing except what is in her email below. I would love to know if someone here decides to do it. Not sure that we have a lot of Florida artists.
Quote:
I am in charge of Forest Lake Academy's Career Day. The Academy is located in Apopka, FL. The Career Day is on Tuesday, March 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Apopka is about 15 miles NW of Orlando.
This year, when our junior and senior students were surveyed, there was a great interest in learning more about a career as a professional portrait artist. Therefore, I am seeking a speaker to make a presentation at our Career Day.
We generally run 11 to 12 different career rooms with three separate, though somewhat connected, careers in each room (i.e. our Communications Room will host a TV Reporter, a Writer and a Video Producer). We ask our presenters for a 15-minute presentation on their career (dealing with education, typical day, pros/cons, opportunities available, salary expectations, etc.). This is followed by a 10-minute Q & A time for all three presenters. After this 55-minute block of time, the students rotate rooms. There are three rotations in the morning sessin and three rotations in the afternoon. The day runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with lunch provided.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to investigate different career areas and glean very useful information and advice. Presenters from previous years have also told us that it was a great networking opportunity for them as well.
If you could direct me to a professional portrait artist who might be willing to join our event this year, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your consideration.

Cynthia this school was about 4 miles from my boarding school in central Florida - which is eons ago. It is a private school associated with a popular religion in this area. It is a very established private school.
As a side note, we used to laugh because there is the Academy, a church, then a retirement home, next an assisted living facility, then comes the skilled center...yes next - a funeral home then the graveyard. No kidding, all the same religion of course.

Beth,
I've been dying to ask, does the name Marge mean anything to you?
