Beth,
I, too have learned that how a person seems on the forum and how they post may not be the 'true' nature of the person. Only through interaction and behavior observation can the real person be seen. I know Marvin, and I am proud to say that he is my friend, not just my teacher. I can also say that he is very generous with his knowledge and devoid of arrogance and pretense. He is quick to correct people when they are wrong, which makes him an excellent teacher, and he can easily provide support for his methods. Because of this frankness and tendency to be right, he has been bashed, and even called Hitler by the very people who should be open to learning from him. I'm not defending Marvin, because he is a big boy and can defend himself. I'm simply saying, don't be fooled by appearances. Sometimes a lot of sugar-coating only disguises a pill.

Ditto, Renee and Beth.Marvins workshop was one of the finest. I have gone to Beths -Institute of Academic Realism- to say more but for now let me say that I will be forever grateful to Marvin for sharing his in depth knowledge and wonderfully funny stories not to mention his "lines of color and luminescent- well prepared palette.
I admit that stringing that measuring grid, mixing all that paint and learning the method of using dividers was all worth the time and all should consider going the next time Marvin is out there teaching. You will not regret it.
Thanks Marvin, Renee, Denise and all of you here who persisted in getting me over my intimidation of attending the workshop and Marvin truly does not have 3 heads but a fantastic instructor instead.Just had to add that Marvin.

Beth,
I'm always hovering in the background. What would you like me to contribute that I am not?
Somewhere in the 2nd year of running the Forum, I had to admit that my dedication to the Forum was short-changing my clients on my main site. And, my first responsibility really is to them. Those paying members are the whole reason this Forum is able to exist as is does today.

Sorry for the misunderstanding Cynthia, I wasn't speaking of you, but some of the artists you host, like Irene Bailey, who doesn't post here. I think you do a great job with the Forum.

Ahhh, I see Beth. Well, there are quite a number who are registered, but never post. Whenever I talk to to a client, I've encouraged them to get involved in the Forum.
