Carlos - this looks like a really lovely piece (like all your work! Your portrait of Nataliaon your website is really splendid!!!) It seems a very honest work portraying a geniune feeling. It has a lovely design, with the edge of the table coming in from the front right a stroke of compositional genius. You have a lovely warm and rich handling of paint, keeping the substance of it and the effortlessness of your application of it, while working it up to a finish that really does equal the Spanish masters. You take the essence of their work as well as the style and technique, and so your painting is not just empty mimicry.
Please do post some close-ups because it is difficult to see the details, which I am very eager to see.
I paint myself again and again, and also my son. I always say I will change subject matter but always come back to the same thing. I didn't get the feeling of monotony looking at your work because it is as much about design and universal human expression as much as it is about similar subject matter. A whole book on Rembrandt's self-portraits could never be boring because each one is truly felt. Each time you paint, you and your subject have changed and are, in essence, different people. You have to paint what you are passionate about, which you, Carlos, obviously cannot do otherwise.
Lovely!

Carlos,
A closeup of the face would be nice. It's a lovely painting.

Thomasin---thanks for taking the time to view and comment. Your words are excessive, though, and very kind. I regard them highly coming from you. Don

Carlos,
This is a beautiful painting. The composition is great and the light very soft...
Please, continue to paint your daughter, it's such a pleasure for the eyes!

Carlos,
This is really lovelyand beautiful. I love the mood, created in your composition, and your keenly poetic yet poignant arrangement of light. Congratulations on another masterwork.

I have been away and just saw this.
Beautiful, tender and endearing. A real testament to the dictum,"paint what you love"
