Reclined in Paint

24" x 18" Oil on Canvas
After painting her, I had a vision of paint roling down the side of the wall and running onto her body, following the contours of her shape. Sometimes...with visions...you just have to go with them! This addition gave this painting a more contemporary look, which, I think, adds to the cropped composition.

Patrick,

I see some really refreshingly original thinking here. I do love the dripping paint over the body. The composition works for me.

The problem as I see it is an issue of drawing, anatomy and lifeless skin-tones. Her lower wing bone or hollow for one, is way too light for the position it is in.

Your painting would work better as a whole if you were to address yourself to some serious study from life. The color and the painting style are all to common to those who learn and paint only from photographs.
