Hi Brenda,
Welcome! Very nice portrait! I recognize the reference--Leonardo's Lady with Ferret, and I think it's very interesting to see how you gave the composition a masculine persona. It's also direct yet gentle, without Leonardo's undercurrent of sinister implications.

Hi Brenda,
nice portrait . Do you often insert some references of other paintings in yours?
I like the way you did this one. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks
Thanks for the greetings everyone!
This just kind of came to me. My son's been wanting a ferret for years but they were illegal in our area. So I said see if you can get the city council to change the law (because many just ignore it and have them). So long story short, after working on our city councilman's campaign for 4 years and getting his letter and picture in the newspaper because of it, he now leagally owns a ferret in Dallas county. Our city councilman is now running for mayor so it's been a great experience for my son.
I thought all that work merited a "rite of passage" painting and Leonardo's was always in the back of my mind. Although the lady is holding an ermine, I thought I could improvise.
Brenda

It's great to see another Texas dweller on here as well. I am currently in Richardson. Perhaps we will run into each other some time! Welcome to the forums!

Hi Jonathan,
Really exquisite work!
Are you represented by a gallery here?
Are you in any painting assocations I might know about?
Good to visit with you,
Brenda
