Tyng portraits in Arnot's 71st Regional Show

Hi All, I just wanted to let you know that two of my portraits, Nancy Bea Miller and Edna Andrade, have been selected for the Arnot Art Museum's 71st Annual Regional Exhibition. A total of 75 works by 56 artists were selected. The Arnot, located in Elmira, NY, is a museum whose primary focus is on representational art. The show will be up until February 19, 2006.

I know the show is far away for lots of you, plus the weather in upstate NY can be kind of cold and snowy in the winter, but you can view Nancy Bea Miller here on the forum:

Anyway, I'm really happy about this because the Arnot has an excellent and prestigious invitational show (not this show) called Rerepresenting Representation, so it's nice to be even a little bit recognized by this museum! They are on the lookout for new and upcoming artists (hint, hint).

Congrats on the show, Alex.

Just went to the website, it looks like a nice area, too bad the pictures are'nt bigger. Hopefully they will post pictures of the show.

Good luck with it!

Thanks All!

Jimmie, Linda, Garth and Chris--your support means a lot to me.

For those of you that are not in the region (which I guess includes the mid-Atlantic states and lower New England, but I'm not sure), another way to bring your work to the attention of the folks at the Arnot is by sending your slides to John O'Hern, Executive Director. There is a link on the website and he is very approachable by e-mail.

Congrats Alex!

I lived in the area until a couple years ago... left because I hated the winters! Maybe I can get my mom to wander out there for a peek.

Definately well deserved.

You are perfectly right and your work have that new quality.!
I have always admired the realism in your paintings, the natural light and atmosphere + the traditional control of composition.
No wonder that you are wanted
Allan
