Glossary of Terms

Please read before posting ...

In the following post you will find a list of words, terms or phrases which are specific to the business of portraiture. If you have a relevant item for inclusion into our "SOG Glossary of Terms" use the edit feature on the following post and follow the general format you see. You should not create another post for each item, just add it to the list within this next post. Don't forget to include your name and the date of your post.

If you have an image that you feel might further illustrate your definition, and you would like to associate it with your entry, you may add it to the list of images at the end of this thread and give some reference to it in your definition here.

Remember, when you are editing this post you are editing all that have come before, so be careful. If you are not familiar with the edit feature I suggest that you learn somewhere other than within this thread.

If you don't find the word or phrase you are looking for look it up, do the research, then share it with everyone here.
