Girl with violin

I finally finished(?) this piece that I first posted in WIP. I learned two things working on this, first I can't draw a straight line, i.e. the strings, without help and that I needed glasses. However, I did enjoy the challenge of painting the violin.

Pastel on Wallis, 24" x 28"

Very nice, Jenni! I never got to see it over in WIP - will have to wander over that way. Is this a commission? If so, I bet they're thrilled!

Thank you, Julie. This piece is of my children's babysitter, she is so sweet and I've been wanting to paint her for a while. I felt I needed to brush up on my 3/4 poses and she was a willing model.

Jenni, though I have followed this in WIP I had to give you a big thumbs up here. I think you have had a marvelous finish. The violin turned out so nicely but I am particularly drawn to the back of the chair. I just love that. I have looked at it quite a few times. It's funny what strikes different people with interest. Really a nice portrait of a very pretty young lady. I bet she loves it.

Yes, What a lovely sweet face and expression you have captured there.

I also recently painted a violin in a still life.
A beautiful instrument to paint, is it not.?
You did a good job of it.
