Soldiers Coulter and Dalley
I wanted to post these "almost finals" they are still missing lettering which runs up our right side of the canvas.
Comments are not necessary, I just thought it was important to draw attention to the organization and exhibit.
You can read all the details here:
Faces of the Fallen
For those attending the PSOA in DC this will still be up.
The following soldiers are Alexander S. Coulter and Nathan S. Dalley both were killed in Iraq, November 2003. They were not in the same division.
These are 6 x 8" on canvas. The size was dictated by the exhibit designer.
Thank you to Kim, Mary, Linda and Jean for taking the time to comment in the WIP section, the reference was indeed challenging and can be viewed there.

Congratulations Beth - these came out very very nice! It's a kind, sweet thing you are doing for the families and you should be very proud of these. You should post photos when you get the lettering on - I'd like to see that.

Good work Beth, I am sure they will love it. I feel your anxiety regarding the lettering...take your time with it.

Hats off to you Beth.
I imagine these were difficult and emotionally challenging to complete. They look great. You should be very proud and honored.
Viewing these has made me stop and think. I was feeling badly for myself because things came up and kept me from being able to paint. Poor me.
I don't feel badly anymore. I feel VERY lucky. Thank you to the men and women who put your lives in harms way, and to the families of those who gave their lives so I have the luxury to paint tomorrow.

Thanks guys!
Janel I certainly understand your sentiments!
David I have painted over the text once already, I am so bad at this, but I have to get something in there.

Beth, these turned out beautifully--I like the contrast that you added, it gives them so much more volume. Well done.

Thank you Beth. These are wonderful little paintings you've done and I'm sure the exhibit would be a very moving thing to see. I hope it travels so I'll be able to go see it.
Thank you for doing these paintings and for giving the information on the organization.

Congratulations Beth,
You have done a wonderful job here.
I must admit that I thought that it seemed almost impossible to paint from these references.
Well, mission impossible, you did it!

Hi Beth,
Yes, you have taken an impossible situation and created something that makes a powerful staement. I'm glad you took it upon yourself to participate, I don't think you will be sorry. Good luck on the lettering, would stencils help? I have lettering guides left over from my drafting days, you can find them in architectural supply stores.
