Cooling Waters

This is 30x40" - oil
Thanks for the input everyone.
I added details. That edge of the skirt for some reason is one of my favorite parts.

Kim,

You have done such a lovely job with this piece, and I think everyuthing is working - the composition is just exactly right, the color harmony is carried through beautifully, your edge management , especially the skirt edges, is just great.

This is the strongest piece I have seen of yours yet, congratulations -

This was my favorite of all your reference pics; I'm glad you chose to do it. You must have been inspired to fly through it so fast, and do such a beautiful job. Where did you take the photos?

Chris,

Thank you - those are great compliments, I appreciate it!

Jean, thank you and yes I was very inspired. I've already started another one from the same photo shoot. I took that photo at the Nueces River here in Uvalde, Tx. There are rivers all around here and places along the highways and farm roads where people stop and jump in. When I first moved here it was funny to me - you might be driving along at a good speed and suddenly you round a bend and there are 20 people right beside the highway jumping into the river.

Kim, beautiful painting! The gesture as she tests the water seems so natural and unposed and I really like the way you've handled the details of the reeds surrounding her. I'd think you could sell giclees of this one (seems like it'd be awfully hard to part with the original!)

Congrats!

Not at all, I'd be happy to sell it. My family grows attached to my paintings and I suppose I do to a certain extent, but this is how I want to make my living so they have to sell!

Thanks Patricia. It's my favorite now as well, but that always happens unless it's a real stinker. The next one will be my new favorite...and then...

I just wanted to share the news that I just found out this one has been accepted for the International Museum of Contemporary Masters of Fine Art Competition.

The painters they accept are just...well, let's just say I lost my cool for a minute when I realized I got in. I figured I would share this because I doubt I'll be in any running for an award, but it's **** exciting just to get in!

You can see more about the competition at www.greenhousegallery.com

Thanks for letting me share.
