Elizabeth,

What edition of CS are you running? I personally haven't upgraded yet to Tiger but I have Photoshop CS 8. I do have friends who are in the graphic arts business, are using Tiger and CS 8 and if you can tell me what problems you are having I can check with them for you and see if they have run into anything like it.

What do you say?

John

Oh John I would really appreciate that!

I just purchased a new 17" PowerBook with Tiger (I miss my 15" with Panther) and it has some great things and some things it will take me a bit of time to get used too.

I am running PhotoShop CS 8, and it is just quirky (which I haven't tried yet). Sometimes the hand will not move the image right away, but the biggest problem is I can't reveal the tools behind the ones on top in the palette. You know there are the little corners that you can click-hold and the other tools beneath it are shown. Well with Tiger there is nothing. Thus far, that's the major one!

Thanks, Beth

Beth,

Interesting problem. Did Photoshop come packaged with the Powerbook or did you buy it separately and install it yourself? Also, did you purchase the laptop new or used?

I run CS 8 on my small 15" Powerbook and don't have any of these problems (but neither did you on your old one).

On the tool bar, does the little black diamond show in those tools that have optional tools underneath or are they missing.

I'll check with my friends today but I'd like some history first, if you don't mind.

John

John the 17" is brand new. All the applications, in fact every thing was transfered from the 15" via firewire.

Thanks Sherlock (which is now called Spotlight)!

question 64356

Hi Beth,

That's "Congratulations" in "num lock" mode. Yes, I have the very same 17" PowerBook as you! It is brand new, just thirteen days, and I have much to learn about how to master the transition to them. I actually did start to accidentally type in num lock mode; imagine my horror! I probably should take a workshop or telecourse from you.

Regarding Photoshop problems with Tiger, I have none to report except that it fails to start, and only starts after I reopen it. It is CS2 (9) by the way. The optional hidden tools on the tool palette work just fine for me. There must be a small bug or glitch in your CS (8) copy from the software transfer.

I love my new Powerbook! It was a refurbished return, so I saved a bit on the price. There was nothing wrong with it; the original owner simply opted out of keeping it. Probably the spouse had a fit about the purchase.

Best Tiger regards,

Garth

Beeth,

Don't give up on me. One friwnd is out of town and the other hasn't experienced any problems nor has he heard of any. I'll check next week and get back to you.

Garth may be right. You might try reinstalling CS 8.

John

Hi Beth, remenber me?

So far I haven't found anyone experiencing any problems like yours or other types but one is checking with his friends. When I hear from him I'l get back to you. Sorry to take so long. Hopefully you have worked this problem out by now.

John

Ha John, I remember you from NC and your portrait at Marvin's critique!

Thanks for the investigation... I did learn a way around it, I just option click the tools and it reveals the others. I am embarrassed to say, but since we moved last summer I have yet to unpack my whole office so I have no idea where a ton of my stuff is hiding, I know there is software somewhere!

GARTH, you did it! Welcome to the portable world - isn't it great? Now that you have a Tiger in the Tank, can you please explain to me if you really figure out how to use these widgets? I do love to go look at all the available downloads, but for instance the spell checker... how do you highlight your words you need to check and keep the widget open at the same time? They had a great promotion for education so I also got a photo iPod which will save me the space of carrying my computer to Ireland with Rob Liberace. Now I just load my shots right into the 20 GB pod for storage until I am back.

For all you teachers out there, it is worth the 6.00 annual license fee and sub list interviews just to get the teachers discount with Apple.
