I won Artist of the Year
I won the "Artist of the Year" Art contest at The Louisiana Carvers and Collectors Guild's Annual show this past weekend.
Subject requirements were 18" x 24", flat art. Species is Redhead ducks. I painted this in acrylics because I wanted to varnish it before the show. I won a purchase award so the painting goes to the sponsor of the prize money. I will be making canvas giclees of the painting. Yepeeee $1500. Not too shabby for about 20 hours of work.
Anyway, here it is.

Yea Kent!
Congratulations! Isn't it nice to win something. Don't consider it as just a few hours work. Just think of how long it took you to get to this point, years of trial and error. By the way, I can't get your website to come up.
Take a look at Rebecca Willoughby's wildlife art, she is an artist in Tickfaw and won first place for her acrylic and pencil of geese last year and first place for a monarch butterfly. I think you'd like it, very detailed.
Later cher,
Alicia

Nice work, Kent. The water must be much cleaner in your part of the state. It's much browner here.
Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks for the compliments
Thanks for the compliments.
Hey Jeff, Nah, not really on the water being cleaner here, but when you get into shallow ponds and the debris is not disturbed, you can usually see a few inches deeper.
Kent
P.S. And by the way, the reason I accomplished it rather quickly (in my case) is because of some great techniques taught to me by Linda Vise here at Portrait Artist. She's great. Of coarse I pick up great things every day from this forum.

Jeff,
I really like Linda's work. It would be great if you could convince her to get involved in the Forum, even if just a little bit.
