Hi,
This is a closeup of a commission just completed. The original is 10x18 of a waist-up nude, this detail is about 4x4. It's on a gray/tan sheet of Canson, highlighted with white pastel.

Jimmy,

I really admire your technique and attention to detail. Your technique is so refined.
Is this pencil or charcoal? What was the hardness
(ex.: H,HB,2B,4B,6B)?

Does this type paper come with the "speckled" look
shown?

Great job again!

Paper and pencil

Mike,

Thanks. I usually end up using the whole range(9H-9B). I start sketching with a 5H or 2H depending how dark the paper is, until I reach proper proportions and likeness. Then something in between like a H or F to refine details. Most of the drawing is done within the 2H-4B range with the other pencils used for accents. I prefer the woodless pencils, but I've only found them in the even number B's. (If they're made in the full range, someone please let me know) Lastly, I use Nupastel white for the highlights.

This particular piece was done on Canson paper which are available with the 'speckled' texture.

Below is a sample on blue Canson with texture. Thanks again.
