I posted the source photograph for this portrait a while back. Here is the finished product. It is 34" x 23".

Clive,
Thank you for posting this painting. It is nice to see this lady and I get a sense of her from your work. The simplicity of composition and color seem to tell something of the environment and of her importance.

Nice work, Clive. I went back and read the postings about the source photo for this painting and it's so interesting to see what you've done here.
Best wishes,
Linda

Dear Clive,
I have come back to this piece a number of times, and I like it more every visit. There is a lot of emotion in this piece, a sense of fragility, anticipation.
I think you've done a wonderful job here. Simple, strong, painterly hands.

Thank you for your kind remarks, they do mean a lot to someone who is working in isolation from other artists. It is especially warming that the portrait communicates what I intended it to. This picture was done shortly after June (my mother-in-law) had lost her husband of 45 years. I wanted it to portray a sense of fragility and vulnerability. The light is very important - although a veil has been drawn over one part of her life, there is still a crack of light. And she is a woman that I truly do admire in that she will use any opportunity to dance in the little light that does come her way. Thank you again for your feedback, it is very encouraging.

I do like this Clive, you've caught her fragilty and told a story with this one.
