My 3rd self portrait

Hello to everybody!

I am a self taught artist and I have been painting for the last two and a half years now. I decided in the last few months to try my hand at portraiture as it is the 'ultimate challenge' for any artist.

My first challenge was at the tender age of 9, when I came first in a national art competition at my school.

Then I waited another 40 years to have the chance to use my gift to the full!

I don't believe that I have just given away my age!!

I have attached my 3rd self portrait and, as you will see, I still have a long way to go, however, I am willing to work hard at achieving my ultimate goal.

Thanks for reading.

Barbara,

Welcome to the Forum! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the volume and depth of information here. In case you haven't noticed the "search messages" feature, it gives you the capability to search for past subjects that have been discussed. Also, the Portrait Critiques section is probably one of the most popular.

I didn't really begin to paint until my children were grown and now I'm making up for lost time. I was also surprised at how quickly I was able to get into portraiture on a full time basis.

As a pro, I find this forum really useful and I hope that you will too.

Welcome Barbara!
