Radio Interview about portrait article reruns on internet

(UPDATE TO THIS POST: This show is not being rebroadcast any more as far as I know. It was replayed many times on Friday and over the weekend and on Monday).

I thought some of you might be interested in hearing this. I was interviewed today on Rick Tyler's radio show. He was asking me about the W.P. article on official portraits and about my portrait of the Speaker of the House.

It will be rerun on the internet on the RIGHTALK site. It may be on the main screen or you may have to look for the broadcast schedule. His show is live on Friday and runs from 3-4PM. My segment started around 3:45. It is a streaming broadcast so if you click on at fifteen minutes before the hour when it is running , you should be able to hear it on your computers.

The url is: http://www.rightalk.com/ You will get a site which offers several internet available talk shows. Click on LISTEN NOW above Rick Tyler's show if it is one that is "now playing". He also has a link to my little bitty web site. (soon to be improved).

This is a conservative talk show and talk show site. Just so you know.

Yes, thanks for bringing the interview to our attention Thomas - it was quite interesting and a good response to that silly article.

I would like to know about (view) that colorfully patina'd portrait sculpture you mentioned (sorry, I didn't catch the name of the artist).

By the way, welcome to the forum - you bring a wealth of experience and talent and your input will be appreciated by all.

Thanks Claudemir and Heidi

The sculptor's name is Mark Lundeen. The piece can be seen on his site at: http://www.lundeensculpture.com/mark...ckswigert.html

BTW I slightly changed my original post. You may have to check the broadcast schedule on the site if the show is not one that is currently playing.

Very interesting interview. I particularly liked one of the announcer's comments. He said something about how, down through the years, we rememeber the names of the artists who've been criticised but we don't remember their critic's names.

You mentioned, Tom, that you sought out Newt Gingrich to paint his portrait. How did this commission come about?

First I checked to see if the portrait had already been commissioned. Then I sent samples of my work to someone who was heading the selection process. Procedures vary with different branches of the government. I don't know how many people were involved or what their process for choosing was.

A while later I received a phone call that they picked me. After that I didn't ask to many questions about how I was selected, I was just happy I was.
