Masterpiece linen canvas

Does anyone have experience with Masterpiece Vincent linen canvas? How does this brand compare with other pre-stretched brands of linen canvas?

I special ordered the Masterpiece Linen canvas, and now they're available by Dick Blick. Anyway, I love the feel of the canvas, so I recommend them.

What are some of the characteristics?

Specifically, how fine is it? Heavy? What ground, or did you apply your own?

I just bought the linen stocked by the local art supply store, and am not sure I'm going to like it. It was inexpensive and available, which are not the best criteria to use for any purchase, but needed "real" linen for an upcoming workshop. Now I wish I'd waited for a mail order linen. (Several Claessens varieties are on sale now at Jerry's Artarama.)

Hi Mari,

Sorry it took so long. My computer crashed after receiving a virus. The Masterpiece linen is heavy weight and acrylic primed. I did not add another primer because I like a canvas with tooth. The texture is medium and is stretched very tightly. No trampoline here!

Hope this helps,
