Painting Storage problem

Hello everyone,

I am having a problem storing so many paintings in my house that I am running out of living space. Short of moving or building a barn, I am at a loss for what to do. I do have a small shed on my property that my handyman suggested using for at least some of them. It could be well insulated. However, it will still get very cold in the winter. I know that I will not be able to provide ideal conditions, but even reasonably acceptable ones would do. I have got to do something. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or help on this matter.

How many paintings, numerically, are we talking about?

When I reached a similar impasse for space, and I'm only taking a few dozen canvases, I brutally culled the herd and, yes, threw them out (most unfinished).

I've never felt precious about my own work and don't understand artists who are. I've never wanted to cling to things I had no use for. Hence lies the path to hoarding.

Why do you feel compelled to store so much work? If they don't represent monetary value, keep an evolutionary range of your work, and give the rest away.

Best,
Dave
