Torso in charcoal
1 Attachment(s)
This is the latest of a series of charcoal drawings I have been doing since July this past year. This one is around 22" x 30". I am trying to concentrate on modeling the structure of the muscle, skin, bone etc. and the attitude (generally subtle) of the figure.

Nicely classic,Thomasin. Beautiful work! The anatomy is there, but not "anatomy study".

Thank-you Julie. I had tried to give it more depth than just being a study - to get the feeling across of my responses to the form and slight movement of the torso.

Your work is always very nice. I love it.

Thank-you Jeff. I really appreciate your comments.

Vine charcoal ? On what paper ? Maybe that's trying to dissect this very nice drawing, and spoil the mystery of it . . . but inquiring minds always go to the "nuts 'n' bolts".
Very sculptural ! |
Hi Richard,
Thanks for your questions and kind comments. I used a charcoal pencil and some vine charcoal as well as some white pastel. I used a heavy watercolour paper to draw on because it feels like drawing on card and has a good texture and takes a lot of rubbing, erasing etc. |
Beautiful Thomasin, I really like returning to my roots and just starting over, discovering my strengths and deficiencies. It is a wonderful and relaxing process for me. It appears that you are enjoying too!
